Lead Software Architect required for a leading client based in Cambridge. This senior role will take ownership of software architecture and delivery across a key product or platform area, turning product priorities and solution designs into scalable, well-architected software. You'll act as the link between product, solution design and engineering, ensuring the technical direction is clear, maintainable and aligned to wider strategy. The role will also lead software engineering teams, support hands-on delivery where needed, and drive the adoption of AI-enhanced engineering practices to improve quality and throughput.
Key skills and responsibilities:
- Strong senior-level software architecture experience, including service-oriented, event-driven and API-first design.
- Good knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containers, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
- Understanding of secure development, authentication, authorisation and data protection.
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments with distributed engineering teams.
- Practical knowledge of AI-assisted development tools, including benefits and risks.
- Proven experience as a Lead/Senior Architect, Principal Engineer or similar, owning a product or platform end to end.
- Strong engineering background.
