Essential Skills & Experience
  • Redact documents (witness statements, hearing transcripts, etc.) for publication, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Chair's General Restriction Order (GRO).
  • Prepare and publish documents to the Inquiry website in line with the GRO.
  • Carry out audio and error checks on transcripts from the Transcription Services provider.
  • Create and apply ciphers to redacted information, maintain cipher databases, and update process flowcharts.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the Inquiry's evidence database, case studies, and redaction guidelines.
  • Work closely with Legal and Paralegal Teams when redacting sensitive personal data for release to Core Participants.
  • Manage day-to-day redaction and publication processes, reporting issues and recommending improvements.
  • Contribute effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting wellbeing, communication, and collaborative working.
  • Safeguard the integrity of the Inquiry by managing organisational, personal, and reputational risks.
  • Support the Assistant Head of Redaction & Publication in delivering timely publications aligned with the GRO.
  • Provide cover in the Assistant Head's absence, supporting colleagues handling sensitive information.
  • Ensure compliance with Restriction Orders, Inquiry policies, Data Protection legislation, and UK GDPR.
  • Support Inquiry teams with cipher key creation/maintenance and short-notice document redaction requests from Counsel.
  • Process and analyse sensitive documentary evidence and conduct research tasks to support Counsel and solicitors.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working in small or medium-sized teams.
  • Ability to manage distressing subject matter with resilience.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to work autonomously with responsibility for document quality.
  • Analytical and lateral thinker (e.g., context and jigsaw identification).
  • Flexibility to work across functions within the wider REM Team.
