User Researcher - Public Sector
6-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Negotiable Day Rate
We are looking for an experienced User Researcher to join a public sector organisation on an initial 6-month contract.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary digital team, helping to ensure services are designed around genuine user needs and supported by robust research and evidence.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver user research across different stages of the service lifecycle
- Conduct qualitative research including interviews, usability testing, contextual research and workshops
- Identify user needs, behaviours, pain points and opportunities
- Analyse and synthesise research findings into clear, actionable insights
- Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Business Analysts and Delivery teams
- Champion user-centred design and accessibility throughout the development process
- Communicate research findings effectively to stakeholders and influence service decisions
- Support continuous improvement of services based on user evidence
Essential experience:
- Strong commercial experience working as a User Researcher
- Experience delivering research within agile, multidisciplinary teams
- Confident using a range of qualitative research methods
- Experience translating complex research into actionable recommendations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive research practices
- Public sector or government digital experience would be highly advantageous
