We're looking for a highly credible Head of Tech Ops Delivery to take ownership of a complex and business-critical technology portfolio.
This is not a traditional PMO leadership role.
It's an opportunity for a delivery professional with gravitas, technical credibility and the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders to ensure the right outcomes are achieved.
You'll sit alongside leaders across Platform Operations, Infrastructure, Network, SRE, DBA, Retail Operations and Service Management, driving delivery excellence across major technology programmes and ensuring risks, dependencies and delivery challenges are identified and addressed before they impact the business.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a role where you will
- Own delivery across a substantial Tech Ops portfolio.
- Influence priorities across multiple technology functions.
- Lead some of the organisation's most complex and high-risk infrastructure programmes.
- Build delivery discipline and governance that drives real business outcomes.
- Partner directly with senior technology leaders and executive stakeholders.
- Shape the future of technology operations within a large-scale, always-on environment.
As Head of Tech Ops Delivery, you will
- Own and drive the master delivery plan across a diverse technology portfolio.
- Challenge assumptions, validate delivery commitments and ensure realistic planning.
- Manage critical dependencies across infrastructure, platform, network, database and operational teams.
- Lead governance, risk management and change control across major programmes.
- Take ownership of the highest-risk initiatives, personally driving programmes through to successful delivery.
- Improve transparency through evidence-based delivery reporting and forecasting.
- Escalate and resolve delivery, resource and compliance risks before they become business issues.
- Create a culture of accountability where commitments are owned and delivered.
You’ll likely bring
- Significant experience leading large-scale technology, infrastructure or Tech Ops programmes.
- A strong understanding of infrastructure, platform, database and network environments.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge senior colleagues constructively.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programmes with competing priorities and shared resources.
- A track record of delivering complex change in mission-critical environments.
- Strong programme planning, dependency management and risk management expertise.
- The ability to combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach when required.
Key skills required include
- Platform Engineering
- Infrastructure & Operations
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
- Data Centre Migrations
- Disaster Recovery & Resilience Programmes
- Large-scale Technology Transformations
- Financial Services, Gaming, Betting or other highly regulated environments
We're looking for a delivery leader who
- Isn't afraid to challenge when something doesn't look right.
- Can influence without relying on hierarchy.
- Brings calmness and clarity to complex situations.
- Has the credibility to engage equally with engineers, architects and executives.
- Focuses on outcomes rather than status reporting.
- Owns problems and drives solutions.
If you're a delivery-focused technology leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys taking ownership of critical programmes, we'd love to hear from you.
- Working pattern: hybrid, 2 days /week In Manchester or Warrington
