The role sits within the Markets Data Risk Execution team in Markets COO and is responsible for driving strategic data transformation initiatives across Markets Data Risk while establishing and leading the sustainable BAU control framework that will support the target state operating model.

The role combines hands‑on transformation delivery with ownership of operational data controls, governance, and data quality management across Markets.

The successful candidate will lead execution of strategic initiatives focused on trade population, market data, reference data, business hierarchy, product hierarchy, pricing environments, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), and Data Quality (DQ) controls.

The role will work closely with Trading, In‑Business Risk, Global Market Risk, Finance, Technology, Quants, and Control functions to deliver strategic improvements while ensuring a robust and scalable control environment.

As the organization transitions from transformation delivery to an enhanced BAU operating model, this role will play a critical leadership position in embedding controls, operationalizing governance standards, driving data quality remediation, and ensuring ongoing operating effectiveness across Markets Data Risk.

What you'll do

  • Strategic Data Transformation Leadership
  • Lead and drive execution of strategic Markets Data Risk initiatives focused on trade population, trade attributes, market data, reference data, business hierarchy, product hierarchy and pricing environments.
  • Define, coordinate and execute complex cross‑business transformation programs supporting Markets Data Risk and Price Risk target‑state objectives.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define best‑in‑class target state solutions, operating models and control frameworks.
  • Conduct business analysis, data analysis, testing, implementation and change management activities supporting strategic delivery.
  • Influence strategic direction, support executive decision‑making and provide recommendations aligned to business objectives and regulatory expectations.
  • Data Quality, Controls & Governance
  • Design, implement, operate and continuously enhance controls across Markets data domains, Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and associated Data Quality validations.
  • Analyze end‑to‑end data flows, identify control weaknesses and data quality issues, and drive remediation through sustainable solutions.
  • Conduct control gap assessments and implement enhancements to strengthen the risk and control framework.
  • Drive standardization, documentation and evidencing of controls and ensure alignment with strategic infrastructure initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor data quality metrics and provide meaningful insights to support risk‑based decision making and prioritization.
  • Develop practical solutions that can be deployed consistently across asset classes and regions.
  • BAU Control Framework Leadership
  • Own and evolve the ongoing BAU operating model supporting Markets Data Risk controls and governance.
  • Establish sustainable monitoring, escalation, governance and reporting processes for key data controls and quality standards.
  • Support implementation and ongoing effectiveness assessments of MCA‑aligned controls within trading environments.
  • Promote a strong risk and control culture and ensure effective escalation of issues, emerging risks and control deficiencies.
  • Stakeholder, Regulatory & Team Leadership
  • Lead working groups and delivery forums involving business, technology, risk and finance stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver executive‑level communications and updates for senior management, governance forums, Internal Audit and regulators.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on Markets data risk, governance, controls and strategic data execution.
  • Support the recruitment, development and leadership of a high‑performing team with strong data analytics and risk/control expertise.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Markets data, data transformation, data analytics, control functions, product control, market risk, valuation control or related disciplines.
  • Strong experience delivering complex strategic transformation initiatives within Markets or equivalent financial services environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Markets products, valuation methodologies, trade lifecycle processes and associated data structures across multiple asset classes.
  • Expertise in trade population, market data, reference data, data lineage, data governance and data quality management.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and monitoring controls in a 1LOD or 2LOD environment.
  • Strong business analysis, change management and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex, ambiguous and fast‑paced environments while driving execution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • What we'll need from you
  • 10+ years in data analytics within Markets (1st or 2nd line), with a strong grasp of financial products, operational intricacies, and various Markets asset classes (Equities, Rates, FX, Markets Treasury, Spread Products, Commodities, etc.), including their data structures and valuation methodologies, CDE requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding of how data influences business decisions, including expertise in data modeling and manipulation patterns
  • Knowledge of CDE and validation related data quality issues at process touchpoints in complex technology environments
  • Extensive experience in designing and monitoring key controls in Manager's Control Assessment (MCA), particularly within trading environments.

Possesses a strong controls mindset, adept at identifying, mitigating, communicating, and escalating risks effectively

  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, Masters degree a plus.
