An international financial institution is seeking a Director‑level eFX Engineering Lead to drive the design and development of high‑performance, low‑latency electronic FX trading systems. This is a senior hands‑on leadership role working directly with Front Office trading and sales teams to shape next‑generation eFX technology across global markets.
The Opportunity
- Lead the end‑to‑end engineering of a globally distributed eFX trading platform, covering:
- Real‑time pricing
- Risk and price distribution
- Algo execution
- Electronic trading workflows
- High‑availability architecture
This role offers significant ownership, autonomy and influence over technical strategy, tooling, and future technology adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and enhance a low‑latency, high‑performance eFX trading system.
- Work closely with Traders and Sales to gather functional requirements.
- Lead development across the full SDLC using agile practices.
- Drive automation, innovation, and continuous experimentation.
- Oversee production support including incident and problem management.
- Partner with architects to maximise code reuse and accelerate delivery.
- Mentor developers and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
Core Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in C++, Java, or Rust (C++ preferred - 7+ years).
- Deep understanding of low‑latency, multi‑threaded systems.
- Experience with FX markets, pricing, risk, liquidity aggregation, order entry gateways, and market data.
- Exposure to market connectivity venues (FxAll, Bloomberg, 360T).
- Proficiency with NoSQL/SQL, version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and modern engineering best practices.
Experience Required
- Extensive experience in financial services / investment banking.
- Proven background building complex, highly available real‑time trading systems.
- Strong stakeholder interaction with Front Office teams.
- Global project delivery experience.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and influence technical teams.
