Senior VAT Analyst
Tax Permanent London £55000 - £65000 per annum
Senior Indirect Tax Analyst | London (Hybrid) | Permanent | Up to £65k + bonus
Why this role?
A recognisable international retailer, a varied in-house VAT role, and a tax team that's investing heavily in data and automation.
I'm partnering with a well-known online retailer, selling to millions of customers worldwide, that's growing its in-house tax team with two Senior Indirect Tax Analysts. If you're at Analyst, Senior Analyst or Assistant Manager level and want a role that goes well beyond compliance, this is well worth a look.
What you'll be doing:
- Owning VAT compliance and reporting across the UK, EU and US, including OSS/IOSS, Intrastat and sales tax, and reviewing the work of external providers
- Digging into large datasets to spot trends, outliers and their root causes
- Leading on tax authority audits and enquiries in several countries, from pulling together data and reconciliations to helping draft technical responses
- Being the go-to VAT advisor for commercial, supply chain, finance and tech teams on new projects, system changes and contracts
- Keeping on top of legislative changes, assessing the impact on the business, and helping manage tax risk and controls
- Working with a dedicated tax transformation team on automation, dashboards and better processes
- Running VAT training and awareness sessions across the business
Sound like you?
You'll have solid indirect tax experience from industry, practice or HMRC, a good grasp of UK and EU VAT (ideally cross-border e-commerce), and you'll be confident in Excel with large datasets. It would be a bonus if you also have:
- Retail or e-commerce experience
- Exposure to US sales tax
- Skills in Power BI, SQL or Alteryx
- An ATT, CTA or ACA qualification
The role offers hybrid working with 3 days in the office, plus a performance bonus, private medical and a generous staff discount.
We are committed to continued improvement in terms of diversity and inclusion practices.
