An industry acknowledged and award-winning organisation based in Horsham is currently seeking a technically strong Financial Controller to join their business. Reporting to the Finance Director and managing a medium sized team, this is a pivotal leadership role for the organisation and would suit a career focused individual looking to prove themselves.
The successful individual will contribute to the financial strategy of a business and will be pivotal in the development of all internal control policies and procedures in the department. This is a highly commercially focused environment where the SLT rely heavily on this team for accurate and detailed management information and recommendations. It would suit a commercially astute, highly organised individual who is comfortable in a complex group structured business and shows excellent staff leadership abilities.

Duties:
- Responsible for the management of all day-to-day finance and admin operations
- Ensure robust team member training and development programs are in place for new and existing staff members
- Report to the Finance Director with timely and accurate financial statements and information
- Assist the Finance Director in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members
- Ensure reporting complies with professional and legal standards
- Coordinating the preparation of budget and financial forecasting, and reporting any variances
- Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
- Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
- Oversee month and year end closure
- Responsibility and control of the VAT processing for HMRC
- Assist the Finance Director with legal reporting
- Management of the Payroll function and responsible for PAYE reporting
- Manage process re-engineering to improve effectiveness and efficiency of all finance processes
- Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required
- Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes
- Assist the Finance Director with special projects
Candidate requirements:
- Ideally qualified but qualified by experience or active studiers still considered
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge including accounting standards
- Analytical, numerate, and comfortable with complex calculations
- High prioritisation and organisational skills
- Exceptional communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Proactive approach to all aspects of the role – energetic and self-motivated
- Ability to respond to change in a positive and proactive way
