Our client, a highly commercial and independent business based near Angmering, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their growing finance team. Following several impressive years of growth, this is an exciting time to join the business and play a key role in its continued success. This opportunity would suit a committed finance professional looking to develop and utilise a broad skillset in a fast-paced, modern environment.
The role offers excellent exposure across the finance function, a clear progression path to Management Accountant, and direct mentorship from a Finance Director. Study support (AAT, ACCA or CIMA) is available for those keen to continue their professional development. You will be part of a close-knit, two-person finance team.
Role Overview- Raise and issue daily sales invoices, including consolidated billing
- Process and reconcile customer receipts, cheques and card payments
- Issue customer statements, monitor aged debt and chase overdue balances
- Resolve customer queries, disputes and refunds
- Process purchase invoices and ensure payments are made within agreed terms
- Prepare and upload BACS payment runs and settle foreign currency invoices
- Reconcile bank accounts and support balance sheet controls, including stock, accruals and prepayments
- Assist with UK and French VAT returns and maintain monthly FX rates
- Support month end processes, management accounts, variance analysis and cashflow reporting
- Act as an escalation point for AR/AP issues, working cross-functionally to improve processes
- Actively studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA
- Previous experience within a finance function
- Highly motivated, diligent and detail focused
- Strong Excel and wider systems knowledge
