An opportunity has come up for an Assistant Tax Manager to join a large international business supporting its UK and Irish operations. The position provides broad exposure across taxes and is well suited to someone looking to move into industry and develop beyond a single specialism. It is a chance to build real breadth, gain exposure to a complex international environment, and take on responsibility early in your career. It will appeal to someone who wants to grow in-house and see the direct impact of their work on the wider business.

You will be involved in the day‑to‑day running of tax processes, including VAT and other indirect taxes, as well as supporting corporation tax and wider compliance activities. Alongside this, there is exposure to project work. You will support tax authority queries, assist with disputes, and contribute to ongoing projects and process improvements. You will work closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business, gaining a clear understanding of how tax supports commercial decision‑making.

This is a hands‑on position where you will take ownership of your work and be encouraged to improve processes and ways of working. It suits someone who is comfortable working with systems, able to pick things up quickly, and motivated to build knowledge across different tax areas.

The team is open to candidates from practice or industry, provided you have a solid grounding in UK tax and a willingness to learn. You may already hold a professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CTA, or be working towards one.

Hybrid working with two days in the office (Welwyn or Burgess Hill). The package includes a competitive base salary, 12.5% bonus, a flexible cash allowance for benefits, and a generous employer pension contribution, alongside a wider range of benefits.
