We are working with a growing manufacturing business to find an experienced Maintenance Fitter who can bring strong hands-on maintenance expertise across mechanical, electrical and plant systems. This role would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys keeping machinery running smoothly through proactive and reactive maintenance.
The Role
You will take ownership of maintaining a wide range of plant and production machinery, carrying out preventive checks, fault-finding, repairs, and emergency maintenance. While you will collaborate closely with the engineering team, the role offers plenty of autonomy once you have proven your capability. You will also support general facilities maintenance as needed. This position is ideal for someone from a manufacturing background who is used to downtime pressures, tight deadlines and operational challenges.
What You Will Be Doing
- Maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, including gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, belts, and drive units
- Troubleshooting pneumatics and hydraulics (compressors, valves, cylinders, schematics)
- Supporting welding/fabrication equipment and carrying out small repairs where needed
- Working on electrical systems: 3-phase, control panels, isolators, motors, VFDs, sensors
- Conducting routine maintenance checks and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently
- Assisting with installations, commissioning, and facilities maintenance tasks
What We Are Looking For
- Strong plant maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
- Solid mechanical skillset; electrical experience essential
- Ability to fault-find across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Electromechanical Maintenance
- 18th Edition knowledge (C&G 2382-22) preferred
- Experience with PLC-controlled equipment is a bonus
- Someone proactive, reliable, and confident working both independently and within a team
