Job Summary
Hartree Partners is seeking a highly motivated LNG Analytic Analyst to join its growing platform. The successful candidate will work closely with traders and commercial teams to develop market analytics, pricing tools and commercial models supporting trading activities across global markets. The role will focus on European LNG and regasification analytics, shipping economics, market fundamentals and commercial optimization. The successful candidate will combine strong quantitative capabilities with commercial awareness to analyse global LNG flows, pricing dynamics and infrastructure economics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong intellectual curiosity, attention to detail and the ability to build practical analytical tools that directly support trading and commercial decision making.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain analytical tools and models supporting trading activities.
- Analyse European LNG regasification economics, terminal utilization and regional netback pricing dynamics.
- Build and enhance models assessing LNG shipping economics, including voyage costs between key global basins and destination markets.
- Support commercial analysis relating to LNG freight, floating storage and global LNG flows.
- Monitor and forecast global LNG supply and demand fundamentals, infrastructure developments and market trends.
- Conduct detailed market analysis across European gas and LNG markets, including pricing, spreads and arbitrage opportunities.
- Work closely with traders and analysts across the broader gas and LNG platform to support commercial decision making.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical frameworks, reporting and market intelligence processes.
Education/Experience
- Experience within LNG, gas, utilities or broader energy markets.
- Strong understanding of LNG market fundamentals, global trade flows and European gas markets.
- Familiarity with LNG regasification economics, shipping costs and regional netback analysis highly desirable.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to work through detailed datasets and commercial assumptions.
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; programming experience in Python or similar languages advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and succinctly.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global team environment.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
