We have an opportunity for someone to join us as a Finance Transformation Lead to work in a truly global environment to lead and coordinate strategic change across Finance and related support functions to strengthen Hartree’s operating model, improve control, increase scalability, and support continued global growth, reporting to Finance Manager.

The Finance Transformation function leads and coordinates strategic change across Finance and related support functions to strengthen Hartree’s operating model, improve control, increase scalability, and support continued global growth. The Finance Transformation Lead is a newly formed, high‑autonomy role within a lean and evolving Finance Transformation function, requiring the ability to lead workstreams independently and drive progress across complex, cross‑functional initiatives.

The role will work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, IT, Risk, Commercial teams, and external partners to analyse existing processes, data, systems, controls, and operating models; identify improvement opportunities; define business requirements; support target‑state design; and help drive change across a portfolio of transformation initiatives. This role combines business analysis, process and control assessment, AI opportunity identification, project delivery, and change management.

The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capability with practical execution skills, moving between detailed analysis and project delivery, governance, stakeholder engagement, and change adoption. The position requires good judgment, credibility, communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex global environment. It is suited to an individual with strong character, a high degree of autonomy, a willingness to dig into detail, and a clear bias toward delivery.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead current state assessments covering business processes, systems, data, controls, reporting, governance, and operating models across Finance and related functions.
  • Identify pain points, inefficiencies, control gaps, manual workarounds, role ambiguity, data issues, and opportunities to improve scalability, standardisation, automation, and control.
  • Work with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, IT, Risk, Commercial teams, and external partners to define business problems, gather requirements, assess options, structure workstreams, and support target‑state design.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and AI enablement teams within IT to identify, evaluate, and shape AI, automation, analytics, workflow, and knowledge management opportunities.
  • Assess and prioritise AI and automation opportunities based on business value, feasibility, data readiness, control considerations, implementation complexity, and adoption requirements.
  • Lead or support stakeholder interviews, process mapping, workshops, data analysis, issue structuring, and documentation to create a clear fact base for transformation decisions.
  • Provide project and change management support across Finance Transformation projects, including planning, milestone tracking, dependency management, risk and issue management, action tracking, and status reporting.
  • Coordinate across workstreams and functions to ensure activities are aligned, decisions are documented, dependencies are visible, and owners are clear on next steps.
  • Support change adoption through stakeholder engagement, impact assessment, communications, training coordination, readiness tracking, and post‑implementation feedback.
  • Develop performance measures, reporting, and tracking mechanisms to support benefits realisation, business architecture, and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in finance transformation, finance operations, consulting, change management, project delivery, financial systems implementation, or related roles.
  • Experience in a business‑facing role with responsibility for stakeholder engagement, problem structuring, requirements gathering, current state assessment, and change delivery.
  • Strong understanding of Finance and Accounting processes, controls, reporting, systems, and data, with the ability to assess how these areas interact across a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead transformation projects, including planning, governance, milestone tracking, dependency management, risk and issue management, decision tracking, and status reporting.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information, lead working sessions, and prepare clear executive‑ready materials.
  • Comfortable working with data, technology, automation, AI‑enabled tools, and workflow solutions; able to identify practical opportunities to improve efficiency, control, scalability, and decision support.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Public accounting or consulting experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of energy or commodity trading markets, processes, systems, and data.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion, Oracle EPM, NetSuite, or related Oracle finance tools.
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects or workstreams in a transformation environment.
