About the Role
- Provide comprehensive mental health care for students, including assessments, interventions, risk management, first aid, drop‑ins, and follow‑up of non‑attendance.
- Lead safeguarding practice, acting on concerns promptly, and complying with safeguarding, Prevent and Mental Capacity legislation, protecting children and vulnerable adults.
- Work collaboratively across teams and agencies, contributing to multi‑agency plans, Fitness to Study/Reside reviews, departmental meetings and residential support services.
- Maintain professional standards and governance, including accurate confidential records, consent to care, NMC Code compliance and robust documentation.
- Promote wellbeing, equality and prevention, delivering health promotion, student workshops, staff CPD and supporting inductions and awareness initiatives.
- Engage in leadership and professional development, contributing to steering groups, influencing policy, reviewing disclosures and maintaining mandatory training and flexible working commitments.
About You
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. Registered Mental Health Nurse, Counsellor, Social Worker, Psychotherapist or related degree/diploma).
- Experience working in a mental health setting with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection within a college or educational environment.
- Knowledge and awareness of mental health risk behaviours.
