About the Role

  • Provide comprehensive mental health care for students, including assessments, interventions, risk management, first aid, drop-ins, and follow-up of non-attendance.
  • Lead safeguarding practice, acting on concerns promptly, complying with safeguarding, Prevent and Mental Capacity legislation, and protecting children and vulnerable adults.
  • Work collaboratively across teams and agencies, contributing to multi‑agency plans, Fitness to Study/Reside reviews, departmental meetings, and residential support services.
  • Maintain professional standards and governance, including accurate confidential records, consent to care, NMC Code compliance, and robust documentation.
  • Promote wellbeing, equality and prevention, delivering health promotion, student workshops, staff CPD, and supporting inductions and awareness initiatives.
  • Engage in leadership and professional development, contributing to steering groups, influencing policy, reviewing disclosures, and maintaining mandatory training and flexible working commitments.

About You

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. Registered Mental Health Nurse, Counsellor, Social Worker, Psychotherapist, or related degree/diploma).
  • Experience working in a mental health setting with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection within a college or educational environment.
  • Knowledge and awareness of mental health risk behaviours.
