Job Description
An innovative life sciences company is looking for a Scientist with a background in molecular biology to join its growing R&D team. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of molecular diagnostics and sample preparation technologies, with support and mentorship from experienced scientists.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and optimising nucleic acid extraction methods for various sample types
- Support the design and testing of LAMP-based assays for point-of-care applications
- Carry out laboratory experiments under guidance and maintain accurate records of results
- Prepare reagents, buffers, and master mixes for research and product development
- Contribute to lab organisation and quality control activities
- Participate in team meetings and share experimental findings
Requirements
- BSc in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related life sciences field
- Some practical experience in molecular techniques such as PCR or nucleic acid extraction (through academic projects, internships, or industry placements)
- Willingness to learn and work in a dynamic, fast-paced laboratory environment
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to follow protocols accurately and work as part of a team
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on experience with LAMP, qPCR, or sequencing methods
- Previous exposure to diagnostics, infectious disease, or regulated lab environments
- Familiarity with lab safety practices and CL2 procedures
