Hartmann Young is partnering with a global diagnostics organisation to appoint a Department Leader, Product Development within a specialist portfolio. This is a scientific leadership role with significant influence over product strategy, development pipelines, and global regulatory delivery.

You will lead and provide scientific direction across product and process development projects for a globally marketed diagnostics portfolio. Working at the intersection of R&D, technical support, regulatory, and manufacturing, you will ensure projects are delivered to agreed timelines, quality standards, and regulatory expectations (GMP/GLP).

This role also carries responsibility for team leadership, project prioritisation, and acting as a senior technical authority across the wider business.

The Person

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline, with significant senior-level expertise;
  • Experience in blood group serology and/or disease screening within a GMP environment;
  • Proven background in diagnostics or IVD product development;
  • Strong knowledge of serological techniques (e.g. CAT, tube methods) and blood group theory;
  • Experience leading teams or strong readiness to step into a first formal leadership role;
  • Excellent scientific documentation, reporting, and communication skills;
  • Experience interacting with regulatory frameworks and design control principles.
