Hartmann Young is partnered with an innovation-led, premium beverage company at the forefront of alcohol-free fermentation, producing a range of sparkling teas, kombuchas, kefirs and next-generation fermented drinks. The business is scaling rapidly, focused on advancing fermentation science and building a distinctive, defensible product platform rooted in microbiology. This creates an opportunity for an R&D Advisor to support the founders on scaling fermentation capability and strengthening technical foundations.
As R&D Advisor, you will work closely with the founders, providing high-level scientific and technical guidance across scale-up and infrastructure development. You will be responsible for:
- Advising on scale-up from pilot to industrial fermentation
- Providing expertise across yeast and bacterial systems, including culture banks
- Supporting development of scalable fermentation infrastructure
- Acting as a senior technical sounding board
- Advising on external partnerships (e.g. CPI, research institutes)
- Supporting process optimisation, consistency and quality
- Providing input into R&D and innovation strategy
We’re looking for a highly credible expert with experience in large-scale organisations who can translate that into a fast-growing environment. You will ideally bring:
- Deep technical expertise in fermentation science
- Experience within large, complex manufacturing businesses
- Strong background in yeast, bacteria and culture banking
- Proven experience in scale-up and industrialisation
- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on level
