The Role
This is a hybrid Systems Engineer position operating within a V-Model engineering environment, with a roughly 70/30 split between systems analysis/design and hands‑on systems administration. You’ll work directly with airport stakeholders and senior customer representatives, playing a key role in the delivery, integration and ongoing development of advanced airfield systems across Heathrow, Farnborough and Manchester. This is not a siloed position - you’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Systems & Analysis (Approx. 70%)
- Requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement
- Systems architecture and design
- Working within a V-Model methodology
- Supporting verification and validation activities
- Customer-facing technical discussions
- Windows and Linux system administration
- Virtualisation (VMware / Hyper‑V)
- Server configuration and support
- Integration, testing and deployment activities
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switches/routers exposure beneficial)
What We’re Looking For
- Strong Windows and Linux administration experience (RHEL/Ubuntu desirable)
- Virtualisation experience (VMware, Hyper‑V)
- Experience in mission‑critical or real‑time systems
- Confident in customer‑facing environments
- Comfortable working in less structured, growing organisations
- Ability to work across both technical and stakeholder‑facing domains
- Aviation, defence, or similarly regulated industry experience
- Experience working within the V-Model framework
Location & Travel
- Hybrid role with approximately 50% on-site work
- Primary sites: Heathrow, Farnborough, Manchester
- Travel expenses covered
- Occasional European travel may be required
- Candidates based in London, the South East, or Midlands ideal (flexibility provided)
