About the Opportunity

We are working with an established international business delivering technical documentation and structured content solutions to major Aerospace, Defence, and Government organisations across the UK, US, and beyond. They are looking for an experienced S1000D specialist to join their team, working on live client programmes to deliver structured content solutions, advise on best practice, and support teams in adopting and applying the standard effectively. This role is mostly remote within the UK, with international travel to client sites (circa 30%, primarily US/Canada), so SC Clearance eligibility is essential.

The Role

  • Supporting clients with S1000D data module authoring, structuring, and quality assurance across live programmes
  • Advising client teams on S1000D application, content standards, and documentation best practice
  • Helping clients get the most from their structured content tools and workflows, including upskilling and knowledge transfer where needed
  • Working with SGML and XML to support content development and structured authoring
  • Contributing to the configuration and application of Business Rules (BREX)
  • Liaising with project and delivery teams to ensure work is aligned with client requirements and timelines

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive technical writing / technical authoring experience within Aerospace & Defence
  • Direct, hands-on experience with S1000D
  • Strong working knowledge of SGML and XML
  • Experience working in major XML authoring tools (e.g. structured editors used for technical publications)
  • Strong client-facing experience and confident stakeholder engagement
  • Experience working in a consulting or client-delivery environment
  • Eligible for SC Clearance, with willingness to travel internationally

Desirable

  • Previous experience supporting or upskilling teams on structured content standards

About You

You're an experienced S1000D professional with deep roots in Aerospace & Defence technical documentation, comfortable working independently, advising clients, and helping teams build their structured content capability.
