Our client, a well-established global organisation based just outside Southampton, is looking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant / Expeditor to join their busy and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience and develop a career within buying and procurement.
The Role
- Placing, progressing and expediting purchase orders
- Chasing suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries
- Maintaining and updating supplier and vendor data, including pricing, lead times and product ranges
- Forecasting and planning future stock requirements
- Assisting with sourcing and introducing new products
- Managing your own workload, with a line manager based in Europe
The ideal candidate
- Previous office-based experience is essential
- Experience in purchasing, buying or procurement is desirable but not essential
- Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with suppliers and colleagues at all levels
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- IT literate, with good working knowledge of Excel and Word
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach
