We are currently recruiting for a Business Rates / Tax Manager. It would suit a Business Rates specialist from either a local authority or commercial background. You will play a key role in the calculation and verification of business rates for companies based throughout the UK. This role is working for a fantastic organisation with an enjoyable working environment, who offers great career opportunities. This role can offer flexible hours and also offer hybrid based working.
This is a busy role where you will be required to work to tight deadlines and work with detailed financial data. Duties include:
- Managing a team of up to 12 who specialise in Business Rates
- Dealing with escalations
- Approving and coding rates against guidelines and databases
- Taking ownership of key case loads of work. Delegating work where necessary
- Assisting in carrying out audits of historic rate payments
- Producing detailed system based reports
- Resolving enquiries relating to business rates
- Conducting data audits and investigating problems which could impact on reporting
The ideal candidate will have experience of business rates, council tax or tax calculations. IRRV Qualified to Level 3 would likely be expected. The ideal candidate will have a very high attention to detail and must enjoy working with large amounts of financial data. Strong organisational and communication skills are also important given the managerial side of the role.
