This is a career development opportunity, perhaps suited to a recent graduate or an equally bright individual who didn’t go to University but who is determined to grow their career. The job works for a leading Financial Services company, where full training will be given to take on a commercial role. The focus of the job will be to review customer businesses, analyse their business, and assess lending risks. Training will be given to learn the role, you just need to come with an analytical mind, able to follow logic and process, and with strong communication skills. It is an analytical role but one that also has people contact.

The role specific duties are as follows:

  • Spend time with, listen to and learn from the team to gain industry expertise.
  • Initially, you will do a variety of administrative tasks, supporting the more senior members of the team.
  • Over time, learn how to analyse customer accounts to look for risks that might be a credit risk flag.
  • Review business plans, again to assess risk.
  • Work on many different customer accounts, all of which will be at a different stage so will require you to dip in and out of different customer accounts each day.
  • Ultimately learn the art and science of underwriting to be able to work more independently.

The ideal candidate should possess a ‘can do’ attitude and thirst for learning. You will be given varied challenges on a daily basis and will be constantly picking up and learning new things. You need an analytical capability, perhaps you did a degree with an analytical bias but want to pursue a more commercial role rather than a dry analysis job. This is a role for someone who would like to spend the next few years in a learning environment with an eye on taking a senior role in the future.
