SIPP Manager

Rate: £200+ a day (subject to experience & interview competencies)

Type: Contractor, self-employed

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, 35 hours per week

Work Pattern: Flexible work pattern between office and home after training period

Location: Bristol, BS1

Reporting To: Operations Director

This is a highly unique and rewarding opportunity for an experienced pension specialist to take on a leading role within Hartley Pensions during a significant period of transition. You will be entrusted with managing and reconciling an entire book of SIPP portfolios, overseeing the end-to-end process of manually transferring these accounts to new operators.

The Role

As the Interim SIPP Manager, you will be given ownership and responsibility for a dedicated book of business, including:

  • Comprehensive administration: You will manage a caseload of client SIPPs across multiple books of business, handling administrative requests across all areas.
  • Case complexity: This will include dealing with complex cases, such as those where property is held within the SIPP.
  • Reconciliation and transfer management: You will perform detailed reconciliation of client SIPPs and play a key role in the manual transfer of accounts to new providers.
  • Exceptional client service: You will ensure efficient processing of administrative requests, covering tasks like benefit calculations, drawdowns, disinvestments, crystallisation splits, death benefits, and bank reconciliations.
  • Multi-stakeholder liaison: You will communicate and coordinate effectively with internal teams, clients, IFAs, and receiving schemes to ensure smooth transfers.
  • Leadership and oversight: You will take a dependable and accountable approach, overseeing the work of others and mentoring more junior colleagues. This includes identifying and addressing areas for improvement within the process.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Substantial senior-level experience in SIPP or SSAS pension administration.
  • Significant experience in handling pension transfers.
  • A strong academic understanding of UK pension legislation and regulations.
  • The ability to manage a complex and varied workload with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in training and supporting less experienced team members.
