As part of the principles of promoting well-being and independence for older and vulnerable people, Hartlepool provides a low level Handyperson Service which helps people to live well and remain safe in their own home. We are therefore looking to recruit a Handyperson Assistant to work alongside the Handyperson Co-ordinator.

One of the aims of the service is to help reduce the potential risk of trips and falls within the home therefore you will be required to undertake a variety of practical tasks and provide minor preventative adaptations such as grab rails. Along with this, you will be required to support the Handyperson Co-ordinator on a daily basis with any additional low level tasks.

You will need to be a good communicator as you will be required to help with the promotion of the service to the likes of the Community Hub, voluntary sector and support groups. You will also need to be able to build a good rapport with people who access the service.

It is essential that you will hold a full driving licence be able able to drive a works vehicle throughout the Borough of Hartlepool.

There will be an opportunity to attend a variety of training relevant to the role within Adult and Community Based Services and you will work alongside other professional within Early Intervention along with colleagues from health and external agencies.
