About the Role

Working across the Cleveland area, you will play a key role in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from major incidents and emergencies. This is a dynamic and rewarding position, providing the opportunity to engage with a wide range of partners including local authorities, emergency services, health organisations, government agencies, voluntary groups and local businesses.

You will help develop, maintain and test multi-agency emergency plans, deliver training and exercises, and provide advice to partners. The role also contributes to real-time incident response, supporting our duty arrangements and leading aspects of our resilience capability.

This post is offered as part of a structured development scheme. Depending on your skills and experience, you may be appointed at EPO or SEPO level. You will receive targeted training, mentoring and development opportunities to help you build up the competencies required to progress to the Senior Emergency Planning Officer grades. This scheme is ideal for those with strong foundations in emergency planning, resilience, risk management, civil contingencies or related fields, who are looking to take the next step in their professional development.

About You

  • Has excellent communication and partnership-working skills
  • Shows initiative, resilience and the ability to work under pressure
  • Can analyse information, understand risk and make sound decisions
  • Has an interest or background in emergency planning, civil contingencies or crisis management
  • Is willing to participate in an out-of-hours duty rota and respond to live incidents
  • Is committed to ongoing learning and professional growth
  • Experience in emergency planning is desirable, but we welcome applicants from a range of professional backgrounds who can demonstrate transferable skills and enthusiasm for the resilience sector.

Candidates will be required to pass NPPV Level 2. Following training there will be a requirement to be on call as part of the Duty Scheme.
