An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and suitably qualified Senior Environmental Health Officer to work within our busy Commercial Services team. The role will suit experienced and food competent officers however applications are also encouraged from those who can demonstrate they can meet Food Standards Agency competence criteria within a short timeframe, including graduate candidates.

If accepted for a graduate role, you will be expected to learn quickly on the job. Support to achieve fully qualified and professional status and meet Food Standards Agency competence criteria will be provided as part of a career progression scheme. Your starting salary will be dependent upon your qualifications and prior experience.

The post will involve carrying out a wide range of duties primarily undertaking food and health and safety interventions, investigating reports of communicable disease and undertaking complaint and accident investigations. Opportunities to gain experience in port health and public health work will be available. There may be some requirement to work across other environmental health disciplines.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to undertake the requirements of their role. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate recent enforcement experience.

Successful candidates will possess a relevant qualification in Environmental Health to degree standard or equivalent, be a registered Environmental Health Practitioner holding an EHRB certificate of registration or equivalent, or be working towards Chartered Status with preferably significant post qualification experience and relevant CPD.
