Children's Services are recruiting a Residential Social Care Officer to a children’s home within Hartlepool. The aim of our home is to provide high quality care for children aged 5‑18 years who require a safe and caring environment to live in. The children and young people we support have various disabilities including learning disabilities, acquired brain injury, autism, ADHD and behaviours that challenge.
Responsibilities
- As a Residential Social Care Officer you will possess a passion for working with children and support them to develop skills enabling them to build a positive future.
- You will support children to access and participate in activities, trips and hobbies.
- You are expected to display a strong team spirit, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work across internal departments and with external agencies.
Qualifications
- Applicants must have NVQ / QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare or equivalent, or a willingness to complete this qualification when in post.
- Experience of working with children and young people.
- Previous experience of working in a supportive capacity to give practical assistance to children and their families.
- Previous experience of working in a supportive environment with children or adults.
- A positive attitude and ability to understand trauma informed practice.
- A willingness to work unsocial hours which will include early mornings, evenings, sleep overs, weekends and bank holidays.
Other Requirements
- Applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring check.
Salary & Benefits
- Residential Social Care Officers: 2 x 33 post‑days, permanent.
- Salary £26,824.00 – £33,699.00 per annum (pro rata plus 7.5% shift allowance and sleep allowance).
- 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Local Government Pension Scheme.
