An Apprenticeship or some form of mechanical or engineering qualification is required, together with mechanical fitting, hand fitting experience. You might have had experience of building and assembling machines before- others in the team have backgrounds building conveyors, packaging machinery, production machines, machine tools, or the one- off special purpose machines that this company often builds. Sometimes you might strip the machine down, follow it to the customers’ site and assemble it. Being involved from the first bolt to the final finish means that you’ll get so see what you built working at speed – it’s a good feeling!
