A growing order book of Conveyor Systems and Materials Handling Systems orders has created this new role, which is a mix of PLC control software programming - design, modifications, upgrades, assisting others, and site-based commissioning of the controls and electrical aspects of materials handling automation projects in the UK and Europe.

REWARDS: Salary to GBP 51,000 plus paid overtime, 33 days holidays, pension contribution, and many other social/company benefits.

THE ROLE: Roughly 25% helping in PLC programming, Siemens S7 TIA systems design, modification based in Northamptonshire - and then 75% on customer sites, commissioning the electrical and control aspects of new systems. You will be working in a small team on each project, assisting the PLC Controls Engineers who design the PLC control software for each machine automation project, working with service engineers who do the electrical and mechanical installation. You will commission the new machines for each project. You'll check that the electrical and mechanical machine installation is correct, then download PLC software/make PLC modifications, do any electrical reworking, and electrical panel checks. Then you'll stay with the machine for a few production runs, do customer training, and handover to the customer. Be prepared to stay away for 10 days to 2 weeks if overseas, shorter if in the UK.

SKILLS: Electrical, PLC software ability, ability to work on site, understanding of machinery, automation. Warehouse Automation, Conveyors, Packaging, Food and beverage or general automated machinery Engineers have done well in this team.

LOCATION: Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Leicester, Market Harborough, even Peterborough all useful for getting to the office when you need to.
