Overview

An excellent opportunity to join Hart District Council's Countryside Department as a Trainee Ranger.

The Trainee Ranger will support the Ranger Team to provide safe, well-managed and welcoming countryside sites.

The role requires an enterprising, resourceful, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with a friendly, outgoing personality and strong customer service and communication skills.

The candidate should be passionate about the outdoors and willing to develop knowledge and learn new skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Ranger Team to maintain safe, well-managed, and welcoming countryside sites.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, can-do attitude and commit to high standards of service and safety.
  • Engage with visitors, provide information, and respond to enquiries in a courteous and professional manner.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Completed some volunteering in conservation or habitat management.
  • GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks, challenges, and problems to achieve a positive outcome.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Hold a current driving licence.
  • A flexible approach to working is essential, as some weekend and evening hours are required.
