Harry’s Cider is an award-winning family business, with a passion for creating delicious, artisan craft cider grown, pressed and packaged at Littlefield Farm. Alongside producing our range of traditional, sparkling, fruit and mulled cider, we also enjoy sharing our enthusiasm for cider with visitors to the farm through our cider shop, taproom, tours, and events. As our business continues to grow, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Operations Manager to join us on the next phase of our journey.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on leadership position, with oversight of day-to-day operations, ideal for someone who thrives in a small business environment and is excited to play a key role in shaping the future growth of the company. The role will involve responsibility across finance, operations, marketing, and strategy. You will work closely with the directors to shape strategy, drive sales, support decision-making, and ensure the business runs efficiently, compliantly and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify new market opportunities, partnerships and revenue streams
- Drive business strategy, forecasting and performance tracking
- Build and maintain strong relationships & brand presence with customers and key partners
- Monitor sales performance and optimise pricing and margins
- Drive sales across wholesale, retail and direct-to-consumer channels
People & HR
- Foster a collaborative and proactive working culture across the business
- Oversee recruitment, performance management and staff development
- Manage and develop a small, dedicated team
Operations
- Oversee day-to-day business operations, ensuring efficient systems and processes
- Analyse costs and margins regularly to maintain profitability and improve performance
- Report regularly to stakeholders
- Coordinate purchasing of materials, packaging, and ingredients
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (food safety, alcohol licensing, health & safety)
- Assist with compliance tasks including duty returns, record keeping, and documentation
- Manage risk and uphold best practice across the business
Marketing & Brand
- Support and guide marketing initiatives to strengthen brand presence
- Collaborate on campaigns, events and customer engagement strategies
Person Specification Skills
- Proven experience in business operations, business development or finance within an SME, ideally in food & drink, manufacturing or FMCG
- Commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data and identify opportunities
- Strong organisational, communication and administrative skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and POS systems (CRM or Mailchimp experience beneficial)
- Minimum GCSE/'O' level Grade 5 (or C) or above in both English and Maths
- Able to multitask, work under pressure and think “outside the box”
Advantageous skills, but not necessarily required
- Experience with Xero accounting software
