The Harry James Group is working with an innovative smart technologies provider within energy storage and optimisation, who are growing their team due to continued success in the market. We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager with a background of working on utility-scale size projects within renewable energy.

The Focus

You will be accountable for leading energy storage sales for cross-functional teams. You will have a leading role to ensure we have predictable profitable sales and project execution.

You will be reporting to the Area Sales Director.

Your work responsibilities:

  1. Lead energy storage sales opportunities from the initial bid to award and contract execution
  2. Vet customers and opportunities to ensure efficient resource use
  3. Manage and maintain key account relationships
  4. Ensure correct pricing strategies and accurate cost estimations
  5. Lead stakeholders and project sales team to achieve business unit goals
  6. Utilise S&OP data as a basis when assessing the correct cost estimations and schedules
  7. Ensure tenders and requirements are understood in detail within the project sales team and high-quality offers are prepared
  8. Ensure risks are evaluated and mitigated properly
  9. Ensure necessary internal reviews are conducted and approvals received
  10. Ensure contracting policies are followed and proper contract terms are achieved
  11. Lead contract negotiations and prepare winning sales negotiation strategies
  12. Manage and report the progress of project sales in CRM (Salesforce) accurately
  13. Ensure proper sales documentation in closing deals
  14. Ensure sales are properly transferred to the project execution team
  15. Drive company purpose and demonstrate the values of customer success, passion, and performance

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  1. 5 years experience in the utility-scale renewable energy industry, with a strong preference toward candidates with prior battery energy storage experience
  2. Promote and never sacrifice safety
  3. Is a senior sales leader with a strong track record of leading high-performing cross-functional teams
  4. Solution orientated
  5. Has a strong track record of negotiating complex sales projects
  6. Contractual and risk management experience
  7. Influencing and communication skills especially when working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  8. Lead by example and facilitate collaboration across organisations
  9. Broad understanding of energy storage business, solutions, and market outlook
  10. Has commercial and customer mindset combined with a structural approach
  11. Outstanding team player and excellent coaching skills
  12. Drive results with planning, change management, and execution skills
  13. Inspire people to take actions towards goals
  14. Appreciate diversity and ability to build psychological safety and inclusion within the organisation
  15. Readiness to travel (some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Travel approximately 20%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually)

  1. Successful project sales with end-to-end profitability
  2. Sales team engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and customer satisfaction
