We are looking for a proactive and creative Design Product Assistant to support the Product & Design team in the development and delivery of our product collections. This role involves coordinating between design, product development, merchandising and sourcing to ensure that collections are delivered on-time, on-budget, and to the required quality. You will assist in bringing concepts to market, monitoring product performance, and ensuring continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of product concepts from initial brief through to launch — collaborating closely with the Design, Merchandising and Sourcing teams.
- Create and maintain product specification sheets (tech packs), ensuring that all details (materials, trims, sizes, packaging) are accurate and up to date.
- Organise sample management — track sample flows, approvals, revisions, and keep the sample library in good order.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure prototypes and production samples align with the design intent and quality standards.
- Support the product development calendar — ensuring key milestones, deadlines and launches are met.
- Monitor product performance post-launch, gather feedback, analyse data, and recommend improvements for future collections.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards (e.g., safety, sustainability, fit & trim).
- Assist in costing and margin tracking of product lines, identifying opportunities to optimise cost without compromising quality or design.
- Maintain product data and assets in the PLM/ERP systems, ensuring accurate and organised information for all stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of market trends, materials innovation, competitor activity and best-in-class product development practices; share insights with the team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Product Design, Textile/Materials, Industrial Design or related field.
- 1-3 years’ experience in product development, design support or buying environment (preferably in retail or equestrian/leisure category).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and ideally experienced with PLM/ERP systems.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail — able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (design, sourcing, quality, merchandising).
- Analytical mindset with ability to review product performance and drive improvements.
- Passion for design, materials, manufacturing processes and product innovation.
- Self-motivated with a “hands-on” approach and readiness to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good command of English (written and oral); additional languages are a plus.
- An interest in sustainability and ethical sourcing is desirable.
Personal Attributes
- Creativity and curiosity — always seeking better ways to deliver great products.
- Problem-solving orientation and adaptability to changing priorities.
- A collaborative team-player who also works well independently.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- High integrity, quality-driven mindset and commitment to delivering excellence.
What We Offer
- An opportunity to contribute to a growing brand’s product innovation and design pipeline.
- A supportive, creative working environment where your ideas matter.
- Competitive salary and benefits package (to be discussed).
- Excellent scope for professional development and growth within the business.
