The Role
Are you a precision-driven engineer who speaks the language of both the design office and the shop floor? Harry Burrows Fabrications is a leading UK sheet metal manufacturer specializing in Defence, Automotive and rail sectors. We are looking for a Project Engineer to take ownership of the manufacturing lifecycle from the moment a customer drawing hits your desk to the final quality sign-off. You’ll be the bridge between client concepts and physical reality, ensuring our CNC laser and folding departments have everything they need to execute flawlessly.
Your Responsibilities:
- Technical Interpretation: Reviewing customer 2D/3D CAD drawings and nesting parts for optimal material yield.
- Data Input: Create Route cards in our ERP system (MIEtrak), producing WO’s and work packs for production.
- DFM (Design for Manufacture): Collaborating with clients to refine designs, reducing costs and manufacturing complexity where possible.
- Project Management: Managing timelines, material procurement, and sub-contract treatments (e.g., powder coating, plating).
- Estimating & Costing: Producing PO’s and procuring materials and fixings from approved suppliers.
- Tooling & Programming: Generating programs for CNC machinery (Laser/ Press Brake) using Radan, SolidWorks. (Sigma/Amada will also be beneficial)
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: A proven track record in a sheet metal or precision engineering environment.
- Technical Skill: Proficiency in 3D modelling (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD.
- Materials Knowledge: A deep understanding of material grades (Stainless, Aluminium, Mild Steel) and how they behave during forming/welding.
- Communication: The ability to explain complex engineering hurdles to non-technical stakeholders.
- The "Can-Do" Factor: A problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-variance manufacturing environment.
