We want someone who sees the success and wellbeing of our children as a shared responsibility and who is committed to working alongside colleagues, parents and external professionals to ensure every child is given the opportunity to flourish.
About the Role
As a Learning Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children both academically and emotionally, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and achieve success. You will work closely with teachers to support learning within the classroom, deliver targeted interventions, prepare resources and contribute to the positive day-to-day running of the school. The role may involve supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) on a one-to-one basis, including children with complex needs who require additional support to access learning, regulate their emotions or develop independence. The successful candidate will be expected to build positive relationships with children whilst maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and high expectations. The role may also require the provision of intimate care, following school policies, training and safeguarding procedures.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a reliable, proactive and dedicated Learning Assistant who takes pride in their work and is committed to playing a full part in school life. The ideal candidate will have:
- A warm, approachable and professional manner, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, parents and visitors.
- An excellent work ethic, high standards and a willingness to go the extra mile when required.
- Experience of working with children, ideally including children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- A patient, nurturing approach combined with the ability to maintain clear expectations and boundaries.
- Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
- The initiative to identify and resolve issues independently, whilst knowing when to seek support or advice.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Physical fitness and the ability to undertake the practical demands of the role.
- A flexible, solution-focused approach and a genuine commitment to the success and wellbeing of the school.
- A willingness to undertake relevant training and continually develop professionally.
- A willingness to carry out intimate care when required, in accordance with school policies and procedures.
