Overview

In this role you deliver Portage-based early intervention for 0–4 year-olds with SEND or developmental needs. You work closely with families, early years settings and multi-agency teams to support learning, participation and inclusion. Through home visits, group sessions and community support you help children develop essential skills while empowering parents with practical strategies. The role centers on a child‑centred, family‑focused approach to improve outcomes and wellbeing in the early years.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured Portage home visits and group-based/group sessions
  • Provide community-based support to promote child development and inclusion
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, early years settings and multi-agency professionals
  • Plan and implement strategies to develop children's skills tailored to their needs
  • Travel within Harrow to family homes, hubs, settings, schools and community venues
  • Promote health and safety, information security and confidentiality
  • Engage in safeguarding and background-check requirements as per HR policy
  • Adhere to lone-working arrangements during home and community visits
  • Support equal opportunities policy and apply its principles in practice
  • Communicate effectively in English to engage with customers as required by the Immigration Act 2016
