Overview
In this role you will act as the subject matter expert for pension technology, reporting and data management to support efficient, accurate pension services aligned with legislative requirements. You will work with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve systems, data quality, and reporting while driving automation and self-service improvements. You’ll manage system upgrades, produce key MI, and lead major annual projects like benefit statements and fund valuations. The role combines technical leadership with stakeholder collaboration and a focus on customer-centric service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for pension systems (including Altair) and related applications
- Manage, maintain and develop pension systems and databases to stay effective and fit-for-purpose
- Lead and support system upgrades, enhancements, testing and user acceptance
- Drive automation and continuous improvement to enhance service delivery and self-service
- Produce, analyse and validate key pension reports and management information
- Lead major annual/cyclical projects (Annual Benefit Statements, pension increases, fund valuations)
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of pension data
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, IT, actuaries and external system providers to deliver seamless services
- Provide training, coaching and ongoing support to Pension Administration colleagues
- Contribute to robust, efficient, customer-focused pension services
- Provide support across pensions and payroll reporting teams as required
Key requirements
- Strong knowledge of public sector pension schemes and legislation (LGPS ideal)
- Experience with pension administration systems and ICT platforms
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong reporting capability
- Experience with HR/pension systems, databases and MI reporting
- Excellent analytical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience identifying, investigating and resolving complex system/data issues
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience working collaboratively with internal teams, external providers and stakeholders
- Experience in training, mentoring or supporting colleagues
