There is an exciting opportunity for five care experienced young people age 18 to 25 years old to take up the role of Ambassadors as part of Harrow Council. The ideal candidates will have spent time in the care of Harrow Children's Services and will have a strong desire to use their lived experience to influence the way that the Council supports the children in our care and care leavers.
As an ambassador, you will represent the voices of children and young people who are or have been in the care of Harrow, ensuring their views are heard in key decision-making forums across the Council. Working from The Hub and supported by Lisa Greaves and the Leaving Care Service, you will take on a variety of meaningful roles, including:
- Contributing as a content expert on panels
- Joining interview processes
- Helping to co-deliver training with council colleagues
This is a sessional worker role, offering flexible hours that can fit around school, college, or existing work commitments. Hours will vary each month depending on what’s happening and when support is needed, with most sessions during the daytime and occasional opportunities in the evening.
You will help shape services, improve opportunities for care-experienced young people, and influence how Harrow Council fulfils its role as a corporate parent. The role offers valuable experience in leadership, communication, teamwork, and professional development while building confidence and employability. About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of being cared for by Harrow
- Willingness and ability to communicate with adults and young people on numerous topics, including candidates’ own care experience
- Ability to recognize the value of different perspectives and backgrounds
- Willingness to receive feedback on how to continue to evolve in the role of CPCC
- Basic computer skills
