We are seeking a dynamic Information Governance Team Leader to join our dedicated Information Governance Team within ICT Services. This role offers a hybrid working model (minimum 2 days at Head Office, 3 days working from home), providing a great work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Information Governance Officers, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Serve as the expert for all Information Rights requests, providing advice and guidance to internal teams and residents.
- Manage and oversee Subject Access Requests (SARs), FOI, and EIR requests, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
- Ensure compliance with legislation including UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOI, and EIR.
- Develop and maintain Information Governance policies in collaboration with Service Managers and Heads of Service.
- Enhance the functionality of the iCaseworks system for managing Information Rights and Governance processes.
- Monitor team performance against KPIs (90% for FOIs and SARs) and report outcomes to governance boards and ICO.
- Build partnerships with stakeholders, maintaining trust and a cohesive approach to Information Governance.
- Promote a culture of innovation and proactive problem-solving within the team.
- Provide strategic leadership on complex issues, liaising with the Information Governance Manager/DPO and Legal team.
About You
You should be:
- Experienced in managing and developing teams, preferably in Information Governance.
- Knowledgeable of legislation (UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOI, EIR) and best practices.
- An effective communicator with stakeholder engagement experience.
- Proactive, results-oriented, and customer-focused.
- Highly organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence.
- Committed to equality and diversity.
Ideally, you will also have:
- An Information Rights certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience within a local authority’s Information Governance team.
- Knowledge of local government systems and applications.
- Experience leading change projects and system improvements.
