Harrogate College are looking for a part time English teacher who has enthusiasm for teaching and learning along with the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their ambitions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about learners, ensuring that they are provided with an outstanding learning journey whilst at Harrogate College. The role will involve working across the college to deliver GCSE to learners in all curriculum areas. Achieving their English qualification can be life changing to students who wish to go on to further study, into employment or higher education. Our team is committed to developing student beliefs in their own ability, using restorative and supportive approaches. What You Will Do

  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners for GCSE English.
  • Be responsible for recording student progress, motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
  • Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
  • Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources including the development of online learning resources for identified modules.
  • Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
  • Develop and employ effective assessment activities for identified modules.
  • Assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback to motivate and inspire the learner to improve and record learners’ progress for identified modules.

About You

  • Honours Degree in English or a relevant subject.
  • Relevant experience in teaching GCSE to 16-18 year-olds.
  • You will also hold or be working towards a Level 5 recognised teaching qualification.
  • A proven ability to set ambitious student targets and possess the strategies and skills to effectively help all students achieve their full potential.
  • An ability to deliver teaching in an engaging and inspiring manner, demonstrating excellent rapport with students of all ages and abilities.
