We are currently looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our in-house Data Science team here at Harrods. As custodian of the Data Science Platform, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between data scientists and IT professionals to ensure the smooth deployment, integration, and scalability of machine learning models and systems.
About The Role
In this role you will be involved in:
- Developing and implementing frameworks and practices to standardise and accelerate machine learning development in the team
- Supporting production implementation of machine learning models
- Ensuring the reliability and efficiency of machine learning operations
- Managing the machine learning infrastructure
You will also:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable machine learning infrastructure, including data pipelines, model training and evaluation systems, and deployment frameworks.
- Develop and implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of machine learning models and systems.
- Optimize and fine-tune machine learning models for improved accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
- Automate and streamline machine learning operations processes, including model deployment, testing, and versions.
About You
We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of software engineering principles and a familiarity with cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud) as well as DevOps principles and tools and version control systems. You will also have an understanding of machine learning concepts and engineering techniques with industry experience in applying them. You should have strong views on how machine learning projects should be standardised and deployed and the drive to implement these approaches within a team.
We are unlikely to consider applicants with purely data science or consulting experience. Experience working with production models or software is far more important to us than experience creating data science from scratch.
You will also have the following:
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with Spark
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues
