Our client is a well-established and highly respected print production and communications business based in London.
Working with a diverse range of commercial customers, they deliver high-quality printed products and marketing materials through a combination of in-house expertise and a trusted supplier network.
Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of work, they are seeking an experienced Pre-Press Manager to lead their pre-press and workflow function.
The Role
This is a key position within the business, responsible for managing the flow of artwork and print-ready files through the production process whilst ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy and efficiency.
The successful candidate will oversee the preparation, checking and processing of customer files for a wide range of printed products, ensuring all work is supplied to production in the correct format and to agreed specifications.
In addition to the technical pre-press responsibilities, the role will involve coordinating and managing the workload of Production Controllers to ensure projects are delivered on time and to customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the pre-press function.
- Oversee the processing, checking and preparation of print-ready PDF files.
- Ensure all artwork and files meet technical and production specifications.
- Create and validate press-ready PDF workflows and output files.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the workflow process.
- Manage workload allocation and priorities across the Production Controller team.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure projects move efficiently through the production cycle.
- Resolve technical file and artwork issues before production.
- Drive continuous improvement within pre-press and workflow processes.
- Maintain colour, file integrity and production standards across all projects.
- Candidate Profile
- We are interested in speaking with experienced
Pre-Press Managers, Senior Pre-Press Operators, Studio Managers or Workflow Specialists who possess strong technical knowledge of commercial print production and digital file preparation.
You will ideally have
- Previous experience managing a pre-press, artwork or production workflow department.
- Strong knowledge of PDF workflows and print-ready file preparation.
- Experience creating and checking press-ready PDF files.
- A thorough understanding of colour management and print production processes.
- Excellent organisational and workload planning skills.
- Experience supervising or managing a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple departments.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
