A large FMCG Group, known for Britain’s most loved brands, has an exciting opportunity within their in-house packaging team. They seek a detail-oriented individual to support the Lead Packaging Development Manager with all centrally led packaging change activities.
What will this role achieve?
As a key member of the factory Technical team, the Packaging Technologist will manage packaging used on site, support site projects, manage transit testing, trial new packaging materials, and assist in process investigations. The role involves identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and cut costs, working under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment, and working independently on initiatives.
What will be your key results?
- Coordinate and support packaging implementation projects across the factory product portfolio.
- Implement material specification changes to improve packaging consistency and performance, meeting standards for Quality, Functionality, Cost, Consumer Acceptance, Stability, Regulatory Compliance, and operational feasibility.
- Support project execution within the Technical team: establish packaging materials & dimensions, collaborate with suppliers and the Origination team.
- Create packaging prototypes/mockups based on briefs.
- Develop new outer cases, SRPs, and pallet configurations.
- Approve artworks promptly, communicating issues to the manager.
- Lead packaging trials, prepare documentation such as cutter guides, pallet patterns, component drawings, specifications, standards, test results, and trial reports.
- Represent the site’s technical team at supplier reviews, drive improvements, and work towards resolving vendor non-conformances.
- Support process capability assessments of equipment.
- Identify and implement continuous process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, COSHH, HACCP, and product standards during trials.
