About the role
A large retailing group has an opening for a Packaging Buyer. This role requires someone with great communication skills and the ability to lead, influence and build strong working relationships with a diverse range of people. We are looking for a confident individual with a positive attitude, resilience and determination.
Key Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day management and requirements of packaging from multiple suppliers for new and existing products.
- Support sourcing initiatives and commodity strategies to identify suppliers, provide competitive pricing and implement effective sourcing tactics.
- Deliver on service, quality and cost objectives supporting business growth.
- Evaluate, manage and negotiate various vendor costs, quality control, and distribution capabilities to make appropriate suggestions or selections.
- Create and implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high levels of service and quality.
- Manage the strategy and bid process for packaging items, reviewing, analysing and coordinating bids for evaluation.
- Work with internal departments on new and existing product developments and help with the packaging selection process.
- Continuously improve procedures, monitor supplier performance and feedback, and address any issues as they arise.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and concise reports, specifications, correspondence and other written materials.
