This position has now been filled. Field Service Engineer role with sheetfed press experience required. The role reports to our prestigious Client’s Service Manager. There is no ‘call out’ rota and attendance is ‘shift requirement only’. Salary: Negotiable – (client has been short-listing candidates with basic salary expectations ranging between £30/35k pa).
Role Function
The successful Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the installation, repair and servicing of our Client’s presses at customer sites.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Print industry background, with a full understanding of how printing systems integrate
Main Responsibilities
- Install presses at customer sites in line with work schedules and customer installation requirements, liaising closely with the Project Engineer and other members of the installation team.
- Respond to technical requests from customers, making appropriate diagnoses and suitable recommendations to resolve technical queries/issues in a timely manner.
- Carry out pre-planned service interventions.
- Refer to comprehensive reference documentation, in addition to assistance from other members of the service team to overcome any difficulties.
- Accurately report on each assignment, providing full details of the actions taken and outstanding requirements, if any.
- Communicate technical requirements and scope of work with senior customer staff before work begins.
- Maintain good working relationships with customers, being mindful that mechanical engineers are representatives of the Company.
- Promote the Company’s pro‑active service products and training to customers, reporting any potential leads to the Service Manager.
- Work as a member of the service team, ensuring that all work is completed on time and to appropriate quality standards, as defined by internal service management procedures.
- Take reasonable care of own Health & Safety at work, and that of others, and cooperate with company arrangements.
