Our client is a well-established UK printing business, operating across multiple sites and supplying specialist products into a range of commercial markets. Known for combining technical capability with operational scale, the business places a strong emphasis on quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
With sustainability, safety and responsible operations firmly on the agenda, the company is investing in strong SHE leadership to support its people, protect the environment and enable long-term, responsible growth.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a SHE Manager who leads from the front — someone who doesn’t hide behind policies, but brings Safety, Health and Environment to life across a fast-moving operational business. This is a role for a pragmatic influencer. Someone who can command attention on the shop floor and in the boardroom alike. You’ll know how to cut through noise, engage people at all levels, and make SHE feel relevant, practical and embedded — not bureaucratic or boring.
You’ll act as the central point of leadership for all SHE matters, shaping systems, behaviours and culture across multiple sites. Your impact will be felt daily: reducing risk, improving performance, and protecting people, the environment and the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as the key SHE leader across the business, setting direction and driving standards.
- Establish, maintain and continuously improve SHE management systems aligned with legislation and recognised standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Oversee environmental management frameworks, including sustainability and responsible sourcing standards.
- Identify SHE risks across operations and work collaboratively with leaders to eliminate or reduce them.
- Translate data into insight — producing meaningful reports that influence decision-making at senior level.
- Lead and energise site-based SHE representatives, ensuring they deliver real business value.
- Support accident, incident and near-miss reporting, investigation and learning.
- Champion environmental performance, including carbon data and external validation.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure systems aren’t just written — they’re working.
- Develop and deliver engaging SHE training that people actually remember and apply.
- Stay ahead of legislation and industry developments, providing confident, credible advice.
- Adapt working hours when required to support operational needs.
What We’re Looking For
- NEBOSH Diploma (essential).
- Strong, practical knowledge of SHE legislation.
- Proven experience implementing SHE management systems in manufacturing or similar environments.
- Hands-on experience achieving and maintaining ISO certifications (45001, 14001, etc.).
- A track record of leading effective SHE meetings and representative networks.
- Exceptional influencing skills — you can challenge, persuade and inspire at every level.
- Evidence of delivering tangible improvements, not just good intentions.
- Confident, credible and comfortable being visible on site.
Why This Role?
This isn’t a box-ticking role. It’s a chance to shape culture, influence behaviour and leave a legacy across a growing, operational business. You’ll have autonomy, visibility and the opportunity to make a real difference — supported by leaders who understand the value of strong SHE leadership. If you’re a natural communicator, a practical problem-solver, and someone who believes SHE should enable the business — not slow it down — we’d love to hear from you.
