We seek a high calibre individual for one of our key clients with a comprehensive understanding of all print manufacturing processes, with extensive knowledge of the Large Format Print and Point of Sale print sector.

Excellent organisational and people management skills. Focus on operational and manufacturing needs. Can motivate and communicate effectively with team. Process driven and minded, aligned to overall understanding of business operations. Ensure that revenue and profitability targets set in the budget are met and work is delivered on time.

Responsible for managing all aspects of production. Responsible for all staff related to production. Responsible for ensuring production process is effective as possible and aligns to commercials. Staff management across production, supported by key departmental heads. Run daily production meetings. Contribute to overall strategy and development of the business. Ensure that formal quality process and procedures are followed and reported. Support maintenance and development of ISO9001 Quality management system.

Operational and process

  • Ensures production operates to agreed procedures and quality standards
  • Handles all technical problems for projects and products.
  • Continuous improvements procedures and methodologies to improve product and commercial return.
  • Has an overview of production scheduling and has the ability to provide resilience
  • Challenges process for continual improvement.
  • Works with Group Managing Director Operations to seek further improvements and to align with Group strategy.

People management

  • Manages existing team and works with department heads to support and develop.
  • Effectively recruits, trains, evaluates motivates, delegates and monitors team.
  • Ensure team are trained and kept up to date with new advances in hardware and software.
  • Effectively balances resource against risk to service and overheads.

Financial

  • Understands the financial implications around products being produced.
  • Ensures all costs captured in relation to production and extra charges.
  • Understands the financial impact of their individual contribution and action of the team.

Strategy and leadership

  • Champions the company and services – sets the professional tone and voice of the company for others to follow.
  • Proactively works with the management team to deal with and resolve any company wide issues
  • Provides strategic leadership around continuous improvement.
  • Ensure staff and equipment are continually reviewed to create facilities aligned with the company’s growth.

KPIs

  • Meet performance Review objectives.
  • Deliver operations projects on time, within budget and to-specification.
  • Create & deliver Manufacturing plan to budget.
  • Create & implement Facilities to meet business requirements.
  • Support maintenance & development of ISO9001 & 14001.

Key Tasks

  • Manage the manufacturing & Facilities team including managing, mentoring and developing staff.
  • Contribute & implement to the rolling 1-3 year strategic plan for operations.
  • Set and manage performance targets.
  • Interface with all other business departments, account management, sales and senior team.
  • Contribute to the development of the businesses to deliver stable products and processes.
  • Work to deliver world class reliability.
  • Maintain scheduled work and communicate delays.

  • Experience of manufacture of printed goods.
  • Strong problem solving skills (containment & counter-measure).
  • Strong experience of supply chain management (including, lead time reduction, packaging).
  • Manufacturing excellence (including Six Sigma, standard operations, plant layout, waste elimination and continuous improvement).
  • Communication, influencing, negotiating and assertiveness.
  • Decision making, sound business judgement.
  • Demonstrate Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Quality management, delivering customer requirements.
