Due to continued investment and growth, a well-established manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced and hands-on Finishing Manager to lead a fast-paced production department. This is a senior operational role suited to a strong manufacturing leader with extensive folder gluer and converting experience, excellent mechanical understanding, and the ability to drive performance, efficiencies and standards across the department.

This role requires a highly visible leader who enjoys being on the factory floor, leading by example, solving problems quickly, and getting the very best from both machinery and people.

  • Overall responsibility for the finishing/converting department
  • Maximising output, efficiencies, uptime and operational performance
  • Reducing downtime, waste and recurring production issues
  • Hands-on fault finding and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Improving machine setup procedures and production best practices
  • Training, mentoring and developing operators and shift teams
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department
  • Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety, quality and housekeeping
  • Managing labour planning and departmental organisation
  • Working closely with senior management regarding production performance and operational strategy

Extensive experience running high-speed folder gluers within print, packaging or converting environments is required, along with a strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering understanding. Proven ability to improve production output and machine reliability is essential, as is experience leading teams within a fast-moving manufacturing operation.

A strong hands-on management style with excellent leadership skills, the ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly, and high standards regarding quality, organisation and safety are necessary. Experience within packaging, print finishing, paper converting or cartonboard manufacture would be highly advantageous.
