THE POSITION

They are searching for a stand‑out senior production manager to control and manage all aspects of production, ensuring workflows are successfully deployed throughout the business in a cost‑effective and professional manner. The Head of Production will provide leadership whilst supervising day‑to‑day operations in the production department and, in partnership with the shop floor manager, act as a conduit between the client services team and the production floor. You will plan, control, organise and monitor the flow of multiple client print & mailing campaigns, including machine allocation, to ensure maximum performance with minimum delay.

DAY‑TO‑DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage the efficient and professional running of the production department in accordance with the production plan, escalating any issues as necessary to the Managing Director and communicating the plan for resolution.
  • Liaise directly with the sales & client services and account management team to ensure projects are mailed within required SLAs.
  • Control the workflow, scheduling and quality control through the integrated MIS – Tharstern.
  • Monitor the daily workflow and align the day‑to‑day work of the production team with production benchmarks.
  • Lead and work as an effective member of the production management team, alongside other functions within the production area, to ensure production output meets dispatch requirements.
  • Manage and delegate work to departmental managers, ensuring completion of workload as per production plans.
  • Oversee, communicate and monitor daily production objectives along with performance progress and targets of operatives, instigating performance improvement plans as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong print production background – 5+ years at senior level
  • Proven ability to lead high performing teams
  • A demonstrable background in production and leadership
  • Hands‑on experience of fast‑paced manufacturing
  • Ability to analyse data to drive performance
  • A successful track record in training and developing talented employees
  • Experience of leading and managing motivated teams
  • A proven continuous improvement skill set
  • Experience in a fast‑paced growing company
  • Ability to work well under pressure – hit targets in a fast‑paced environment
  • Able to effectively multitask, prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working with litho, digital print, fulfilment & mailing – knowledge would be an added bonus
  • IT skills and Print MIS experience
  • Keen eye and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Ability to self‑manage in an organised manner
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask
  • Exceptional planning and project management abilities
